Phil Gray reports on the
race:
'What a day and an early start, 6.30 a.m. actually, as I and a whole host of
people were either helping or participating in the annual jamboree that is the
Bedford Classic Triathlon. 8 a.m. came around quickly for the first wave of
swimmers as I had already located to Upper Caldecote, near G & M Growers
actually. It seemed like an age before the first competitor arrived and then
it was a sea of different colours and a whole assortment of bikes. Good to see
some Harriers in action, including that man, Jak Chana, Simon Fisher and Paul
Langford. A little over an hour later as I welcomed a lift back to base and
welcome refreshments in the guise of a steaming mug of tea and a magical roll
of burger and sausages. I can recommend it, honestly. A day was at an end for
yours truly. Well done to all those who went the distance on a bright and
breezy August morning as I entered my bungalow a tired but elated individual.'
