The first Bedford parkrun went really well. The sun was out and just over a hundred runners turned up. There was a mixture of abilities which is what parkrun is all about and I think everyone enjoyed the race.
There were 17 harriers running out of the 102 field, including a great win by Gary Finch in a time of 17:40. This is now the marker set and wonder how long this parkrun record will last.
Also there was some great support by the harriers, with Phil taking pictures and Keith and Sylvia cheering everybody round.
The family of the day would have to go to the Dadds. With Tony coming third in a time of 17:52. With his two boys look like stars of the future with William getting a great time 21:07, and Matthew getting a time of 27:46. Wife and mum Helen come last of the Dadds but still in a sub 30 time of 20:30.
There was 2 more sub 20 times by Jose Ariza and Gary Butler.
Joe Warren, Michael Munro, Caroline Devine, Lawrence Folley and Stuart Snelson all went sub 25.
Lynn Christison, Noel Jones and Jen Lovesey come in within 30 seconds of each other around the 26 minute mark. Great to see Noel back after those 10 marathons, a nice short distance for him today.
Mandy Lawson and Kate Barnard come in together with a buggy just after 28 minute.
Ruth Stryczko, Linda Payne, and Shaun Bowman also ran well to complete a great race.
Hopefully this parkrun will grow from strength to strength. With a good turnout from the Harriers each week.
