Two days of rain made for exciting conditions for my first trail half
marathon. The start was in Sedbergh, Cumbria and there was a 10k, half and
full marathon option. The 500m climb in the first 5 miles meant that it
started out as a fast hike but the views were amazing. The next 2 miles
were on a very steep downhill section past Cautley Spout falls and this
was as difficult as the uphill portion! The next 5 miles were on similar
terrain to an average cross country event (with plenty of gates between
fields) and the final mile was uphill on roads back into the village.
This was a really well
organised event which I would definitely do again. A medal, T-shirt, goody
bag and a roasted meat or vege roll were included in the entry fee. Check
out the other Montane trail events at www.trail26.com.
