Egdon Easy 10k

Official Result

Mark Ingledew 44.16
Judith Ingledew 55.38

Its Whitsun Bank Holiday again and Mark and Judith Ingledew head of to Weymouth for a week of windsurfing, walking and cream teas.  The annual dilemma of do we take part in the Egdon Easy 10K has already been decided this year, foolishly, for the first time, we entered in advance.  Therefore all the past excuses: - 1. We were up at 4:30am to beat the holiday traffic so I’m too tired.  2.  I am dehydrated through travel and not drinking enough.  3.  We will never find the race HQ in a strange town, have all been blown apart and I’m too tight to waste the entrance fee.

The race is around the Lodmoor Country Park, the weather was sunny (hot) and Egdon Heath Harriers turn out to be a friendly bunch.

The race started and I was amazed at how fast I was running (I ought to be in the Olympics) until I realised part of the course is used twice and the 5K marker was followed by a 2K marker hence 8K still to go (cancel the application to the Olympic Committee). The heat was oppressive when running through the reed beds and I was convinced each K run was longer than the last, but eventually it was over. I was hot and Knackered, but after many years of avoiding the race by not entering on the day, I have a sneaky feeling that I will be applying in advance again next year.  Overall a good race, well organised and friendly. If you are down that way next Whitsun Hols keep Sat evening free and I will see you there.

Our times were as follows Mark 0.44.16 and Judith, who was doing it as a training run and was aiming for 1 hour, 0.55.38
