Ultra Race Gratham
5th/6th March 2011

This weekend I ran the UltraRace Grantham, which is a 29 mile route along part of the old Nottingham to Grantham canal and back. Other than being a very scenic route along the edge of my secondary school catchment area it was another great weekend for meeting people. The event was host to a large Marathon Des Sables contingent who were there to try out their kit (half the field ran with large backpacks), get their ECGs, and compare notes on how to save a few grams without dropping below the minimum daily calorie requirement. I met up with a few 10 in 10 marathon runners and ran the whole race with one of last year's finishers so I picked up plenty of sound advice for my go in May.
