Having decided that I wasn't up to running 28 miles today on the 'From Here to Back' event organised in Wellingborough by the Beds, Bucks, Northants LDWA Group (sorry Norman Corrin), I chose to drive an hour away from Wellingborough and take part in the Bassingbourn half marathon instead - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/824349384. The event was not huge, about 300 runners but was well organised, well marshalled and enjoyable run on quiet country roads and a grass track. It passed through a few pretty little villages some of which had great support from the locals as we ran through. The event was used as a fund raiser for the Charity Brainstrust ( www.brainstrust.org.uk). On finishing the event all runners were presented with a medal, a brainstrust band, bottle of Powerade, a banana, a packet of fruit from a well know fast food outlet and a can of organic fizzy energy drink. I would recommend the event. Ian |
