Mourad Ben TaiebMadrid is a vibrant city with a lot of sights to see and I would recommend it for anyone wanting a big city marathon. This event also includes 10k and half marathon distances, with the half and full starting together and splitting after 8 miles, so some overtaking may be required in the first few miles. My Garmin distance was 26.6 miles. The Spanish crowd is very loud as is the Rock and Roll music. The organisation is very good with plenty of water, gel, powerade and fruit. There are lots of paramedics on roller skates. Temperatures in late April can reach mid to high twenties. The course is slightly undulating with a gentle incline for the first 6k. Transport around the city is fast, cheap and easy. Bib collection is out of town next to the airport, which is handy if arriving on Friday or Saturday. When collecting mine, I was lucky enough to meet the elite! . Despite running at 27deg C I'm very happy with my final time of 3.50.18. All in all, a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend.Mourad Ben Taieb
