Three Bedford Harriers took part in the Brathay Windermere Marathon this weekend. Often called “The Beautiful Marathon” due to the wonderful scenery it passes through. With wonderful scenery comes a challenging course and although there are only three hills that people will tell you about there are not many flat sections in between. We had near perfect conditions for an excellent day with a great atmosphere; a drum band lead us down to the start and this year we could actually see the lake that we were running around. With a beer tent and BBQ what better way to finish the day than sitting out in the hall grounds cheering in runners and chatting with friends. Super organisation. A number of good friends were completing 10 marathons in 10 days, and yes most of them beat me to the line!

"The Brathay Trust is all about personal challenges, almost every day of the year the Brathay team work with young people across the country helping them to face their own individual challenge, often the biggest challenge they will face in their entire life. The challenge of walking away from a life of antisocial behaviour often leading to crime. The challenge of changing their own life to making a positive contribution to society. This is Brathay’s mission."
