Last year Blagnac was to have been my first race in
France but I was not allowed to collect my number because my medical certificate
did not show the word "competition". No such problem this time and the
conditions seemed ideal if somewhat colder than average for the time of year -
sunny 10C. However, I was not very confident before the start because I had had
a miserable session on the track during the week (including a painful 4m10s
timed 1000m.) Consequently I was well pleased with my 1:27:40 79th/1114
although I was beaten by a minute by another MV60.
I had always thought that this part of Toulouse near the airport was
very flat so I was taken by surprise to find a hill on each of the two laps. It
was good to hear some unexpected vocal support at this point from one of my
training partners.
