Bob Wells 49.52 2nd MV3

A proposed hike in the Sierra Guera was cancelled because of the rain in Spain so I made a last-minute decision and entered the 'En Laure en Courant' race  at Labruguière less than half an hour before the start.  Even at this late stage the 15 euro entry fee included a technical tee shirt and a full post-race meal (with wine of course).

For some reason (perhaps the non-standard 12km distance) I had anticipated a trail race but in fact only the last 500m were off-road. My undistinguished performance - 49:52 for 30th place in a field of 159 was heavily over-rewarded with the prize for 2nd MV3 - 2 bottles of wine, duck paté, 50cm of sausage, tooth paste, soap, 2 marker pens, a ballpoint pen and another tee shirt. The male and female winners won multi-tier trophies which, from a distance, would not have looked outclassed beside the rugby trophy won again by Stade Toulouse.
