Bob Wells 1.02.10 3rd MV3

Having completed four major cycling events in four weeks I came ro the 13km Ronde Forestière trail race at Brassac in the Tarn department without a lot of running in my legs.

From the title I anticipated a circular run through the thick woods on the banks of the River Agout but it turned out that this was a point-to-point race. Runners were transported from the HQ to the race start not by coach (as at the Boston Marathon, Henlow 10 etc) but balanced precariously on large trailers towed by farm tractors. I noted that one of the sponsors was Caminade Assurances.

Most of the course was on excellent VTT tracks which seemed to be continually either rising or falling but there was nothing so extreme as to be unrunnable.

My performance - was unsurprisingly undistinguished. Robert Wells of "Bedfort Harries" finished in 47th place in 1:02:10 and 3rd in the MV3 category. This was generously rewarded with a large box of fruit.

Unusually I did not stay to enjoy the post-race meal as I wanted to watch Le Tour. However, after the substantial "apéro" offered during the presentations this was no great sacrifice.
