The 61st edition of the
Brampton-Carlisle 10 mile race broke with its traditional Saturday
afternoon format and I suspect that it was the only race in the country
on Sunday to get rain. Proximity to the Scottish border also gave me as
much difficuly understanding some runners' banter as I experienced in
France. Although the overall organisation was a bit hit and
miss, running conditions were not bad for mid November.
On-line entry and timing chips
were introduced for this event last year (my first attempt) but
the organisers had reverted to traditional methods this year. Running
without a chip, I was 6 seconds faster than last year - 1:07:06 and 1st
MV65. As this was the first time I had been faster in 2012 than 2011 at
any distance I was well pleased.
