Bedford Harriers had two teams in the 24th running of the Round Norfolk Relay, the 194 mile, continuous relay around the county boundary of Norfolk.
It was a very successful event for the teams, with Bedford Harriers Masters finishing in a time of 23 hours 55 minutes and 4 seconds (average 7:22 minutes per mile) and the Club team finishing in 28 hours 39 minutes and 49 seconds.
The Masters team finished 14th overall (the winner finished in 20hrs 31mins (6:21min/mile), and more importantly won the Bronze medal in the ARC Road Running Relay, won a stage and also broke 2 stage records. (8:50 mins/ mile).
Gill Fullen was first lady in Stage 2 (overall 7th) in a time of 1:34:55 for the 14:06 miles (Hunstanton to Burnham Overy leg), much of which is off road, and broke a stage record that has stood for 5 years(by nearly 4 minutes).
Tony Dadd was the first male master (2nd overall) for Stage 11 (Bungay to Scole) in a time of 1:31:08 for the 14:60 miles, setting a stage record for Male Masters.
For the Club Team, Marianne Williamson was overall first lady in Stage 11 in a time of 1:46:25, setting a stage record for Lady Seniors.
Another RNR record was broken by Iva Barr as she became the oldest competitor in the race’s 24 year history beating the previous record by 8 years.
